Boarding FAQs

What belongings are my pets allowed to bring?

We request that you leave all bedding, blankets, toys, and non-medically necessary items safe at home. This ensures that your pet’s favorite belongings are ready for them when they return home from their staycation.

How many potty breaks will my pet be allowed? Will they be walked outside?

Dogs that do not participate in Daycare Plus will get two opportunities to play freely in our playroom or canine breakroom, which has grass turf and a state-of-the-art drainage system.

Who will watch my pet overnight?

You can find peace of mind knowing our carefully curated overnight custodial team of certified animal lovers will quietly supervise your pet’s slumber.

My pet is on medications/a strict diet, how do you confirm they are receiving their proper dose/portion?

We ask that you pre-measure your pet’s portions and provide all medications in their original bottles with labels. This helps us to ensure that your pet receives the correct medication and dosage.

Can my dog participate in Daycare Plus while boarding?

Yes, if your dog is eligible for group play at their Temperament Evaluation, you can request Daycare Plus days through your client portal as an additional service.

If my dog is not eligible for Daycare Plus, will they still get playtime?

Yes, all dogs receive a designated individual morning and evening play time, as well as a daily enrichment session to meet their physical, mental, and emotional needs.

What will my cat do during their playtime?

All feline guests will have a 30-minute out-of-condo session each day, where they can choose their own activity. We have a variety of feline activities available, such as interactive toys, treat puzzles, and a jungle gym with a view of the outdoors. Our caregiving team will briefly help your cat get started with their chosen activity, and then give solo time where they can spend the rest of the session relaxing and watching the world go by.

Why does my dog need a consultation and temperament evaluation?

At Mainstay, it’s important that we understand the mechanics of your canine companions’ physical, emotional, and educational needs. That’s why we’ve taken the extra step of scheduling a consultation with our Dog Training Specialist Lead as the first step in booking any boarding, daycare, grooming, or training services. This will help us gauge exactly what your pet(s) need(s), understand your overall caregiving and training goals, and establish an awesome caregiving program tailored to your pup(s)’ needs.

We believe that the best way to ensure your pet(s)’ happiness and well-being while they are staying with us is to have a clear understanding of their individual needs and preferences. By scheduling a consultation with our Dog Training Specialist Lead, we will be able to ask you a series of questions about your pet(s)’ behavior, temperament, and training history. We will also observe your pet(s) interacting with you and other people and animals. This information will help us to develop a personalized caregiving program that is tailored to your pup(s)’ specific needs.

We are committed to providing the best possible care for all of our canine guests, and we believe that this consultation is an essential step in ensuring that your pet(s) have a safe, happy, and enjoyable stay with us.
